- .. Andreas,"robbie" Carree was born in Athens,Greece.
His family comes from the North of Greece,Greek Macedonia(the ONLY Macedonia)As a baby he was given to the baby centre H Mitera and later moved to Corfu from where he was adopted by Dutch parents and grew up in and around Leiden,Holland.
His father, a drummer himself, played a lot of Jazz/ bigband music around the house from the likes of Count Basie,Buddy Rich,Stan Kenton and many more,which,until this day remains one of his most favorite styles of music.
At age 7 he started his first piano lessons and got a LP of the Beatles and that started off his interest in Rock/Pop and Blues music...
At fifteen he switched to drums and started playing in bands and joined the music scene at the famous dutch Jazzbar The Duke in Leiden.
Two years later he started his studys at the The Hague royal conservatory,where he studied drums with Erik Ineke and Clarence Becton and also took lessons from,Art Taylor,Cindy Blackman,Jeff Hamilton,Adam Nussbaum,Billy Hart among others...He graduated in 1997.
Robbie/Andreas played on the North Sea Jazz festival with Grammy Winner Bob Florence(arranger for Stan Kenton,Count Basie,Buddy Rich,Harry James)and played with top dutch jazz/blues/rock performers like,Simon Rigter,Karel Boehlee,Lo van Gorp,Eelco Gelling,Hans Dulfer,Greetje Kauffeld,Martijn van Iterson,Mariska Veres,Peter Beets,
American blues legend Tail Dragger and Arizona blues hall of famers Grams and Krieger,Nico Wayne Toussaint,Ricky Nye and Jerry Portnoy to name just a few...
After his studys he moved back to his birthplace Greece and dissapeared from the dutch music scene for six years. When he came back in 2003 he soon started playing again and is now back 100%, playing gigs around Europe(tours to England,Corisica,France,Belgium,Finland,Germany)and the States(tour in Arizona)He also teaches drums on two music schools...
